What Going ON

16th May 2004

In April, Llanrwst exchange finally pushed beyond the 500 trigger level set by British Telecommunications Plc which means that Llanrwst will receive broadband. The date for enablement has been issued and I am pleased to report that Llanrwst will be eligible for broadband on 1 st December 2004, and this will be available to all.

As part of the scheme which saw Llanrwst exchange enabled a number of internet providers to offer the town some good promotional deals to celebrate this achievement. Some of these deals will include free modems, free connections, free set-up costs and many others offers which will make the whole project much cheaper for you, the consumer.

As some of you will know, as part of your pre-registration each person that put their name forward as being interested in the scheme were put into a free draw for a x-box console and free games. This will be drawn in the next few weeks, but in the meantime if you keep a close check on the website, I will be putting up a number of the offers from the various internet providers over the next few weeks.

Once again I thank you for your continued support

> WE DONE IT

20th Apr 2004

On Tuesday 19 th April 2004 at 3pm Llanrwst finally reached the 500 trigger limit set by BT, and as a result of which Llanrwst will now receive Broadband. A date has yet to be determined, however when it does finally arrive it will be beneficial to the community as a whole.

As the area co-ordinator I would like to take the opportunity to thank all those who have helped this day become a reality. Special thanks should go to Mr Gareth Norris of BT Wales Deployment and the co-ordinators from other internet providers such as One.Tel and Virgin.net. At Conwy County Borough Council, I would like to thank Sarah Davies, their Broadband adviser and most importantly Cllr Eddie Woodward, whose continued support was a great boost to the campaign. Finally, to Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas who was the first to assist the campaign for Broadband. Diolch yn fawr.

Finally a big thank you to all who have signed up for the scheme. Without your assistance the scheme would never have succeeded.

> CAMPAIGN STARTED - WE NEED YOU!

20th July 2003

I have started this campaign because i feel we are being left behind when it comes to fast internet ( Broadband ). BT have introduced a Trigger level scheme where the public actually decides if broadband is needed in certain areas. BT will only update the local telephone exchange if enough people pre-register for broadband. My mission is to inform the people of Llanrwst and surrounding areas that broadband is by far a better option for internet access than the narrowband we are all using at the moment. Most of us pay £15.99 a month for slow and often unreliable internet access, and there are companies out there that do Broadband internet access from £19.99 to £29.99, and another advantage about Broadband internet is you can use the telephone while you are online.( Yes no more disconnecting from the internet just to make a phone call ) So it's upto us to show BT that we need this telephone exchange updated to be able to get a better all round internet service.
